Can I Use Kitchen Cabinetry in Other Rooms?

It’s no secret that custom kitchen cabinetry is a great way to transform the heart of your home into a beautiful and elegant masterpiece. But don’t let the name fool you, because kitchen cabinetry can also be used in other rooms. Doing so creates a cohesiveness and flow that also reinforces your intended décor. And, getting all your cabinets at once from the same trusted source could save you a lot of money in the end! If that sounds like a plan, here are some creative ways to use luxurious kitchen cabinetry throughout your home.

Dining Room

In today’s open floor plans, the dining room is usually an extension of the kitchen. Most people use their dining rooms for entertaining party guests or serving large meals, so choose some open cabinets or cabinets with glass doors to showcase your fine china and serving ware. If your dining and living rooms adjoin, consider matching the cabinet finishes, colors and decorative hardware in both spaces to introduce a more refined, sophisticated look.

Bathroom

Bathroom storage and organization are usually at a premium. Extend your vanity with some spacious vertical or horizontal cabinets, but make sure the cabinetry’s material will withstand heat and moisture well. Use pullout drawers and other cabinet accessories to create space and organization for toiletries, cleaning supplies and towels. In a larger bathroom, it’s also fun to add a padded bench between wall cabinet sections for applying lotion and doing your nails.

Home Office

More people now work from home, resulting in too little office space and too much clutter. Home offices are asked to hold a lot of electronic gadgets, chargers and power cords, creating a tangled mess that’s both unsightly and dangerous. Kitchen cabinets will introduce storage, organization and a relaxed atmosphere- all of which help promote productivity. You can also design a built-in desk with your office cabinets or use them to display books and hold supplies.

Laundry Room

Your home’s laundry room can be a cramped, dreary place. Turn yours into an elegant, laundry conquering powerhouse by installing bright-colored wall cabinets with flat or recessed paneled doors that will make the room appear larger. Or, flank your front-loading appliances with base cabinets and then extend a quartz or granite countertop all the way across for laundry sorting and folding. You can also install wall cabinets with recessed lighting to add storage and illumination to the tasking area.

Living Room

Place smooth-surfaced wall cabinets along one side of your living room underneath the windows, and then find window treatments in a contrasting color to introduce eye pop. If there’s a fireplace, flank it with some floor-to-ceiling natural wood cabinets to draw eyes upwards. You can use glass doors to display collectibles or larger open cabinets for holding your TV and speakers.

Mudroom

Although a mudroom is supposed to be a buffer zone between the outdoors and your beautiful kitchen floor, it doesn’t have to be boring. Use built-in custom cabinets to create personalized storage lockers for your family’s muddy shoes, coats and backpacks. If space is limited, add open overhead cabinets with decorative containers or baskets to hold gloves, hats and scarves.

Other Spaces

The possibilities are endless when it comes to using kitchen cabinetry throughout your home. Here are some other spaces where adding stylish and functional cabinets would work:

  • Bedrooms
  • Kids’ playroom
  • Garage
  • Bar room
  • Home theater/ media room
